CanvasWork makes parking meter covers for almost everyone. Here is a cover we did for Tampa Bay. Often times when a meter cover shows up in a particular city we often get a cascade of referrals from the city and from private organizations such as churches and other non profit orgainziations that struggle with parking managament issues. As you can see by this single parking meter cover it is also a way to celebrate and advertise special events and special venues.

CanvasWork makes both double and single meter covers for both single and double hoods. As you can see by the example a single hood fits one meter housing. Our single bags are typically 19 1/2″ tall by 12 1/2″ wide. This single bags fits 99% of all parking meters. The same is true for our double covers which are made to fit a a duplex meter or two single parking meters on the same yoke. Our doulbe cover is 26″ tall by 19 1/2″ wide. The double fits most double housings. But over the years we have found a few cities that use larger housings. We keep track and in some cases provide our customers the larger size parking meter cover with out their realizing it.

Here is a double parking meter cover CanvasWork has just finished for the University of British Columbia. As you can see there is a sharp logo at the bottom of the meter bag that really stands out. The best fun we have as a company is working with logos. That’s why we have a gallery section in our website dedicated to the variety of artwork we have printed and in some cases created.

City of St. John’s Parking Meter Cover

Canvas Work has just finished an order for single parking covers. These were done for the city of St. John’s through Duncan Meters. The white lettering and logo really stand out against the black acryllic fabric. We do quite a few parking meter covers for funeral designated parking spots. It’s is really valuable for churches, funeral homes and municipalities where managing space for mid day funeral is important.

Sewing Loft Renovation

Well the renovation of the barn’s hay mow continues for CanvasWork. Like I said in a previous post the attempt is to get the hay mows floors redone and have them polyurethaned so that we can build bigger barn curtains in a what can best be described as a sail loft. Every couple of months our family goes to the north shore of lake superior on vacation. When you pass through Duluth you can still see these large warehouse spaces that were former sail lofts for the big sailing ships that put in at the harbor. Before steam all the tall ships that moved goods and people were powered by large sails that had to be sewn and repaired. In summer I have stood on the ladder near the window and looked out on our ”Amber waves of Grain” and thought it appropriate that this space be used as a sail loft. Also, I hope to throw a basket ball hoop up on this end for a basketball court for the family. Today the red river is flooding. We have snow, mud and water. Today would be a good day to have somewhere to shoot hoops.

Heat Seaming

This is picture of our Miller WeldMaster T-500. It’s the work horse of our shop. We weld all our vinyl and acrylic with this machine. On this project the Weldmaster is welding acrylic fabric for the awning. The Awning is going up in Minneapolis for the Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop theatre. This is a custom job and we are very excited about it.
