It's a rainy morning in Minnesota. It is lovely to let the earth soak up some water and help things grow. Our grass is freshly mowed and the fragrance this morning was wonderful. There's always competing smells around here - good ones like fresh cut grass and alfalfa and not so good ones like skunks! After an unseasonably cool week last week - we're off to a nice start with much more moderate temperaures and humidity levels. The hollyhocks are starting to bloom as well as the tiger lillys. While there are always more weeds than time (we don't use chemical weed suppressants) the flowers are still beautiful and should be enjoyed. The vegetable garden is growing like crazy and we should be enjoying fresh beans and peas soon. We've already snuck some fresh beets and potatoes. All to be savored and canned or frozen to enjoy year around. Life is good!
