Home > Blog > How to prevent injury in icy parking conditions
I just got done reading an interesting blog entry posted on January 20, 2009 by Benjamin Clark inIowa Law blog.http://www.iowa-lawblog.com/2009/01/articles/general-law-1/icy-injuries-assigning-responsibility-in-iowa-parking-lots/
He states that the lot owner must meet the following standards when icy conditions are prevelant.
"(a) knows or by the exercise of reasonable care would discover the condition, and should realize that it involves an unreasonable risk of harm to such invitees, and
(b) should expect that they will not discover or realize the danger, or will fail to protect themselves against it, and
(c) fails to exercise reasonable care to protect them against the danger."
Canvaswork has made a variety of sign cover and even caps/sleeves for bollards, traffic cones and gate arm covers warning customers of icy conditions within parking lots. We'd like to make more of these products and I believe it would help diminish injury.
